These brownies are made with cocoa powder. Preparing the batter involves involves a lot of beating, and I was glad that I have a stand mixer. As Dorie says in her headnote, the texture of the baked brownies is "neither cakey nor fudgy, but creamy, slightly chewy at the center and slightly crunchy at the edges" - just wonderful.

ReplyDeleteOkay, don't get mad at me because this is said with the best of intentions...okay? First of all, your brownies look wonderful. Now for the don't-get-mad part because I love crime mysteries...this photo reminds me of a detective mystery where maybe the title would read something like Brownie Killer or Killer Brownies...lol. It would make a great cover for the book! :-) Those brownies would probably be worth dying over, right??? ;-)
