This week the Tuesdays with Dorie baking group made Granola Energy Bars from Baking Chez Moi.
The recipe worked very well. I used peanuts, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds for the nut/seed portion and raisins and dried cranberries for the dried fruit portion.
As promised the brown rice syrup really sticks everything together.
My bars came out quite firm and were a bit of a challenge to cut. They taste delicious. I will make this recipe again soon.
Oh, peanuts sound like a great addition! Did it change the flavour a lot?
ReplyDeleteI cut bars off the slab of granola as I ate them. It became easier to manage after a day of rest in a plastic storage bag.
ReplyDeleteYours look perfect! Fun to hear all the choices everyone made this week, and also how they cut their bars. These were a big hit...I will make them again and I think your peanut suggestion sounds just fine. :-)
ReplyDeletePeanuts and sesame seeds sound like a delicious addition to these bars. Your pieces are cut so cleanly I wouldn't have known you had any difficulty. They look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wait 3 hours! They were mostly cool, but still took some effort. I think cutting through the peanuts was the hardest part.
ReplyDeleteAdding sesame seeds is a great idea! I love sesame seeds especially when used in bakes. I never thought of adding them to these bars! Looks good!
ReplyDeleteI cut my bars the next morning and they were soft and easy, I considered using cookie cutters next time just for fun. Maybe it was the honey I substituted for the brown rice syrup? Your bars look great!
ReplyDeleteThe different varieties of bars have been so interesting to see. Looks like yours turned out pretty great.
ReplyDeleteYour bars do look good. I have made these twice. Once with Lyle's Golden Syrup, and again with the brown rice syrup. The Lyle's turned out softer and sweeter, which I preferred.
